An original satirical tale from the Orange King’s kingdom.

For “Dapper,” I drew Marco the Chameleon in a fine suit, looking very comfortable beside someone he once warned everyone against.

Marco called the Orange King a con artist. The Orange King called him Little Marco. They spent a good while insulting each other before one of them won the throne and offered the other a job.

These days, Marco visits neighbouring kingdoms to explain that the Orange King’s threats are proposals, his insults are negotiating tactics and yesterday’s promises were never promises at all. Marco delivers each explanation knowing he may have to explain the exact opposite tomorrow.

There’s something particularly irritating about a polished little sellout who can identify a con perfectly well, then put on a good suit and become its overseas representative.

Still, he looks presentable. The Orange King appreciates having someone who can deliver complete bullshit without getting it all over his shirt.
